Indoer Journal

What we store

Your journal stays on your device

Your questions, readings and notes stay in this device’s browser. They are not sent to the site’s database or shown in the admin dashboard. Use Settings → Backup to save a copy.

Your subscription

You can use the journal without creating an account. If you save a preference in the newsletter form, we store the email address you enter, the registration date and your consent, including its last update, the wording version and the month you first subscribed. Without signing in, a private cookie lets this browser recognise your subscription for up to 400 days. The server stores only a transformed version of that key, separate from usage statistics. If you are already signed in, we use your account ID to preserve your existing registration.

The newsletter is optional

The box is unchecked by default. You can unsubscribe on this page by unchecking it and saving. Without an account, use the same browser and keep the site’s cookies; entering an email in another browser does not let you view or change an earlier subscription. Once you unsubscribe, you are excluded from future exports of subscribed contacts. This version does not send emails automatically.

The site owner’s dashboard

Only the authorised Indoer Journal owner’s account can view registrations and export contacts who have opted in to the newsletter. Statistics show visits, new and returning visitors, completed readings, new registrations and newsletter subscriptions. They do not include journal content.

When you unsubscribe or replace a subscribed email, we retain the previous address and date so the site owner can remove it from the mailing list. We also record when that removal is marked in the dashboard.

Basic statistics

Your browser stores a random identifier and the time of your last activity to distinguish visits. A session ends after 30 minutes of inactivity. We send only random identifiers and an indication that a visit or reading has taken place; the server records the date in Lisbon time. We do not send questions, cards, notes, page addresses or archive content.

These data are pseudonymous: the browser identifier is transformed before storage and is not linked to your email or account. Events older than 400 days are deleted when the next visit is recorded. The browser record, including the dates of its first and last visits, is deleted after 400 days of inactivity. The browser identifier is also renewed after 400 days of inactivity. The dashboard shows only totals for the past 12 months, not individual visitor activity. Clearing your browser data or changing devices may cause you to be counted as a new visitor.

Contact messages

When you send a message, FormSubmit processes your email address and the text you enter to deliver them to the owner of Indoer Journal. The service retains messages for 30 days. Your email is used only to reply; you are not subscribed to the newsletter. The form does not send your archive or add questions or readings to your message. Your email and message are sent directly from your browser to FormSubmit; the site does not store a copy.

Services that run the site

Hosting and sign-in are provided by Sites. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts. These services may process technical data needed to operate. Indoer Journal does not add advertising or track your activity on other websites.
